Overview

The Senior Manager, Advertising and Digital Marketing is an experienced, hands-on advertising leader who possesses a deep understanding of the creative, data-driven and revenue-generating nature of offline and online marketing.  They will have deep experience devising campaign strategies and objectives, determining which marketing channels resonate best with targeted audiences, setting ad performance goals, and executing campaigns that integrate digital and traditional strategies across all Memphis Grizzlies brands. 

As a key member of the Marketing department, the Senior Manager, Advertising and Digital Marketing will create strategies and implement marketing plans designed to increase single-game ticket sales, season ticket sales, group and pack sales, event sales, special promotions, email signups, mobile app downloads, food & beverage sales, merchandise sales, and other such campaigns as deemed necessary.  The role will design 360° multichannel paid, organic and owned ad campaigns, ensure proper setup and implementation of the campaigns, and actively monitor in-flight campaigns for opportunities to optimize to increase key goals.

 

The Senior Manager, Advertising and Digital Marketing is well-versed in digital channels.  The successful candidate has a strong grasp on mobile marketing, email strategy, paid social media, search, marketing automation, and digital marketing in general. 

Responsibilities

  • Ideate, create and execute advertising plans for all events, promotions, sales, lead generation, and brand awareness campaigns across the organization – plans should include elements of owned and paid mediums;
  • Manage all aspects of paid ad placement, positioning, planning and revenue optimization for all Memphis Grizzlies brands across both digital and traditional advertising channels;
  • Drive revenue growth through digital marketing channels - including email, paid social, paid search, video, website banners, mobile, display, online retargeting, SEO, and emerging online channels;
  • Create and implement paid and organic ad campaigns that generate leads, signups, downloads and ticket sales;
  • Manage email marketing - including setting strategy, providing feedback and approvals on emails prior to distribution, and providing directives on optimizing email campaigns;
  • Manage the mobile marketing strategy, ensure ads are appropriately trafficked in the mobile app, and successfully manage ongoing mobile marketing initiatives;
  • Design campaigns that increase brand awareness across traditional marketing channels – TV, radio, in-arena, in-game broadcast spots, and digital billboards;
  • Oversee ad operations and trafficking functions – campaign quality control, implementation, trafficking, delivery, troubleshooting and reporting;
  • In conjunction with Marketing Analyst, identify fan journeys and demand generation strategies;
  • Work closely with Marketing Technology team and Ticketmaster to improve conversion funnel from click-to-lead and click-to-sale;
  • Utilize testing and conversion tools to measure and optimize paid ad campaigns;
  • Track cash and trade expenses and manage the Advertising budget. Ensure campaigns are within budget;
  • Implement concepts and paid advertising strategy as provided by VP, Marketing;
  • Provide insights on ad performance, including opportunities to increase revenue and reduce spend to VP, Marketing and Executive Stakeholders;
  • Build and manage the fan loyalty (non-season ticket holder) program;
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on goals and strategic direction for the fan loyalty program;
  • Ensure day-to-day success of the non-season ticket holder Loyalty program and initiatives, including fulfillment of loyalty rewards;
  • Request creative assets from Brand & Creative team in a timely manner to ensure readiness prior to campaign launch;
  • Oversee the online ‘Grizz Campaign Tracker’ to ensure that all mediums used for campaigns are accurately documented and tracked;
  • Set benchmarks for campaign success and understand industry best practices;
  • Collaborate with Partnership Marketing department to design and implement effective trade agreements;
  • Manage and delegate tasks appropriately, while ensuring timely and accurate completion;
  • Coach and effectively manage direct reports;
  • Manage relationships with 3rd parties and vendors;
  • Build relationships with NBA team and league peers;
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have at least 6-9 years’ experience managing paid advertisement campaigns across both traditional and digital mediums for a global brand or ad agency.
  • 4-6 years of hands on experience managing advertising budgets in excess of $1MM.
  • Expert-level digital marketing experience.
  • Deep experience placing social media ads with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Previous experience managing SEM paid search campaigns with AdWords and Bing/Yahoo.
  • Experience managing display and retargeting campaigns on ad serving platforms such as AdRoll and Google AdManager (DFP).
  • 3-5 years’ experience negotiating and managing both cash and trade advertising deals.
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing campaigns with radio and TV partners.
  • Must possess superior written and verbal skills, editorial judgment and knowledge of digital culture.
  • Strong strategic thinking ability and demonstrated business acumen – focus on driving business results.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards in all work.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Slack.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

 

 Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Email Studio (strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics for measurement of campaign performance.
  • Experience with programmatic buying.
  • Experience with Data Management Platforms and Customer Data Platforms.
  • Passion for NBA basketball.
