The Senior Motion Designer is responsible for spearheading creative vision and crafting captivating content to be used in-arena, broadcast and other digital medium for the Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Hustle, FedExForum, Grind City Media and Grizz Gaming. As a member of the Creative Leadership team, this role will be an integral part of developing and coaching the team’s other motion designers while supporting the general creative direction with a primary focus on conceptualizing, creating and implementing animated visuals for the in-arena experience.

• Lead the creation and implementation of visual elements and animations across the Grizzlies and all affiliated properties;
• Partner with Art Director and Sr. Designer to understand and contribute to the boarder creative marketing strategy and how execution occurs across the organization;
• Lead cross functional communication with other departments to bring different animation strategies to life in a visually impactful way;
• Create briefs and communicate design concepts for various theme nights, and tent pole events each year;
• Collaborate with Director, Live Entertainment in order to fulfill in-game entertainment needs as well as messaging for corporate partners, community initiatives and team related promotions;
• Attend meetings as requested for both Broadcast and Live Entertainment teams and participate actively in the creative process of both departments;
• Manage multiple projects from conception to completion within assigned timelines;
• Provide assistance and direction to the motion graphic designer(s) with intent to output high quality content;
• Animate logos, brand assets, typography and design elements;
• Partner with the Creative Video Lead/Sr. Producer in order to coordinate look of video elements as needed for broadcast, social and web features;
• Execute creative project direction, goals and requirements as set and assigned by the Creative Project Manager;
• Lead and supervise motion and/or other graphic designers, including approval of timecards, team development, mentoring, and other employee initiatives as needed;
• Work evenings, weekend or holidays as needed;
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree from university, college or art institute, or equivalent professional work experience
• Five to seven years’ experience creating animations and graphic designs
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-changing environment
• Must be a team player, highly motivated with a strong attention to detail
• Thorough knowledge of design techniques and applications using Adobe AfterEffects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D and Ross Xpression
• Experience with file-based production and post-production workflows
• Understanding of video and animation codecs
• Knowledge of production standards for social platforms

Nice to Have:

• Graphic design degree or certification from an accredited art/technical college preferred.
• Experience in live event production
• Experience in Non-Linear editing in Adobe Premier and Avid
• Knowledge of design techniques and applications using Ross Xpression
• Experience working for professional or college sports team
