The Opportunity

As Advertising Coordinator, you would play a critical role in managing paid advertising campaigns across the Memphis Grizzlies family of brands.  The role requires a multidimensional marketing expert to play a number of roles from media planning, ad trafficking, paid social media strategy, managing paid media budgets, and assisting in growing our email marketing presence and database via paid ads.

 

The Advertising Coordinator will implement digital and traditional advertising campaigns aimed to increase brand awareness, customer engagement and drive conversions or ticket sales.  Taking an omni-channel approach, the Advertising Coordinator will ensure campaign goals are met across online, in-arena and traditional marketing channels for our owned and paid marketing assets.  As such, the Adverting Coordinator will be well versed in digital marketing, paid social, paid search, display banner ads, OTT ads, retargeting, digital billboards, in-arena signage, audio, TV, email marketing and marketing automation.

 

The position is also responsible for monitoring industry best practices and making suggestions to continuously improve and refine our approach to drive business results and lead conversions.

In This Role You Will

  • With guidance from the Manager & Director of Marketing, assist with the overall omnichannel media strategy across all digital touchpoints with an emphasis on developing and executing the advertising strategy, aligning with the team's marketing objectives and target audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, creative, and partnerships, to ensure cohesive and integrated advertising campaigns
  • Identify target markets, demographics, and key fan segments to optimize advertising efforts and maximize reach and engagement
  • Research and negotiate advertising placements, sponsorships, and media buys to maximize exposure and return on investment (ROI)
  • With guidance from the Art Director oversee the advertising creative development process, working closely with internal teams and external agency to produce compelling and on-brand advertising materials
  • Own advertising, asset usage and ad execution for assigned brands and campaigns.
  • Plan and execute digital, in-arena, and traditional media ad buying and appropriate placement for paid social, paid search, display, online retargeting, OTT, TV, audio and digital billboards.
  • Review copywriting for online marketing campaigns to ensure brand tone and copy is reflective of the advertising medium.
  • Oversee ad operations and trafficking functions – campaign quality control, implementation, trafficking, delivery, troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Properly maintain budgets in our budget tracker to ensure campaigns are staying within our defined advertising spend.
  • Manage billing and vendor payments to ensure all paid media is paid in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with Sales, Content Marketing, Communications, Broadcast and Partnership Marketing to maximize revenue generating opportunities and support ticket sales, ticket renewals, sponsorship and branding initiatives.
  • Create marketing summary reports for FedExForum events
  • Own, manage and grow relationships with paid media vendors and partners
  • In conjunction with the Analytics, analyze and optimize performance of marketing mediums to determine the most effective channels and audience for campaigns
  • Provide internal reports and updates to stakeholders to ensure campaign performance is meeting organizational goals.
  • Review analytics to determine progress on revenue goals for events and games.
  • Stay abreast of latest digital marketing trends and insights while providing expert-level digital marketing recommendations.
  • Be an active participant in brainstorming and ideation sessions.
  • Build relationships with NBA team and league peers.
  • Other duties as required.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working in digital marketing with a brand.
  • Extensive knowledge with creating paid search and paid social advertising using Google, Yahoo, Bing, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, AdRoll, etc.
  • Track record of developing and executing successful advertising campaigns across multiple channels
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously
  • Passion for analytics and marketing strategy.
  • Mastery of project management is essential.
  • Posses superior written and verbal skills, editorial judgment and knowledge of digital culture.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards in all work.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
  • Excellent analytical, written and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Must be an independent, self-starter.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

 Nice to Have: 

  • Passion for NBA basketball.
  • Experience with marketing automation and email marketing platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with a sports team or organization is preferred.
