The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking an Analytics Engineer to support a wide range of business intelligence functions.

 

The Analytics Engineer will work cross-functionally across Ticket Sales & Service, Marketing, Partnership Marketing, Finance, and other departments to clean and organize data sets, build reports, assist line of business-specific analysts, and curate functional insights for the Memphis Grizzlies, FedExForum, Memphis Hustle, Grind City Media, and Grizz Gaming.

 

Areas of focus include transforming, testing, and documenting data, visualizations & reporting on ticket sales, email marketing, and many other related data processes. The Analytics Engineer will support and empower analysts and the organization at large to answer their own questions with clean data and documented reporting.

 

This role reports to the Manager, Data Engineering embedded within the Business Strategy & Analytics department and will serve as a liaison between our data team and various business stakeholders throughout the organization.

In This Role You Will

  • Serve as a proactive team player alongside the Business Strategy & Analytics department to further enhance internal processes, drive in-depth analyses, and promote data literacy.
  • Design, document, and professionally distribute aesthetic reporting outputs related to the performance of all business aspects of the Memphis Grizzlies and respective brands.
  • Contribute significantly to insights and analysis of report usage and data integrity.
  • Empower Marketing and Partnership Marketing departments to derive fan insights.
  • Aid in the creation and management of data automations, such as email marketing and ELT/ETL.
  • Develop modeled data sets, in collaboration with data engineer and marketing technology team.
  • Offer support to all departments using data to drive business decision making.
  • Participate actively in recurring conversations with third-party vendors.
  • Promote the department’s commitment to data enablement and a data-driven culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Experience You Will Bring

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 1+ years of experience in business intelligence, data engineering, CRM development, or reporting.
  • Commitment to detail-orientation, thorough documentation, and collaborative communication.
  • Understanding of CRM principles, data models, and campaign management.
  • Adept at SQL, database design, and data visualization software.
  • Strong communication skills with variety of cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated to grow and learn in the field of business analytics.

Nice to Have:

  • Master’s degree in a related field of study.
  • Previous business intelligence working experience in the sports & entertainment industry.
  • Tangible examples of projects involving Salesforce products.
  • Advanced fluency in both SQL and Python.
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ or Cloud+ Certification.
  • Microsoft Certification : Azure fundamentals, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
  • Strength in data visualization software, such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Exuberant passion for automation, enablement, and supporting a data-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant third-party software and service providers, such as ticketing, data warehousing, computer telephony integration, gamification, sales prospecting, and more.
  • Knowledge of sports & entertainment industry trends, especially as it relates to the NBA.
