The Opportunity

The Building Automation and Sustainability Technician plays a critical role in supporting the arena’s environmental and energy efficiency goals. This position is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining sustainable building practices, systems, and technologies to reduce the facility’s environmental footprint and improve the operational efficiency.

In This Role You Will

  • Sustainability Operations & Maintenance
    • Monitor and optimize building automation systems (BAS) for energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
    • Conduct routine inspections and audits of HVAC, lighting, and other mechanical systems to ensure sustainable performance.
    • Assist in the implementation of “green” building certification initiatives.
  • Data Collection & Reporting
    • Track and analyze energy usage, water consumption, and waste metrics.
    • Prepare sustainability performance reports and recommend improvements.
    • Support compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Project Support
    • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on sustainability-related projects.
    • Research and recommend new technologies and practices to enhance building sustainability.
    • Assist in vendor coordination and procurement of sustainable materials and equipment.
  • Education & Engagement
    • Promote sustainability awareness among arena staff and vendors.
    • Support training programs related to sustainable operations and maintenance.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Vocation School or Associate’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Facilities Management or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with BAS platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Trane, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and energy management principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities

 

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of sports and entertainment venues, specifically NBA basketball.
  • OSHA 10/30
