The Opportunity

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a UniFi Systems Administrator who will provide critical support and contribute to the configuration, development, and troubleshooting of software, hardware, and user devices to ensure reliable operations across the organization. This role will actively participate in application deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and system enhancements, guiding implementation steps and ensuring component compatibility.

 

The ideal candidate will offer mentorship to team members with less experience and collaborate with technical experts and solution owners to drive long-term solutions. During service disruptions, this individual will lead root cause analysis and service restoration with a detail-oriented approach that inspires confidence and promotes operational excellence.

In This Role You Will

  • Install, configure, and manage UniFi devices (access controls, access points, digital signage, switches, security gateways)
  • Maintain optimal network performance by analyzing usage patterns and adjusting as needed
  • Manage users and access points, including provisioning, group policies, and guest access
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the network to identify and resolve connectivity issues
  • Perform regular firmware updates and security patches for UniFi devices
  • Oversee network cabling, infrastructure configuration, and procedures
  • Manage and install physical installations of Ubiquiti solutions
  • Stay up to date on the latest UniFi features and best practices
  • Design, develop, and maintain network automation scripts, tools, and frameworks using Python (and potentially other scripting languages like Ansible)
  • Develop and execute automated tests for network configurations and services; optimize automation scripts for performance and efficiency.
  • User Support: Provide users with comprehensive technical information. Perform a more in-depth analysis of user issues and make suggestions for enhancements or fixes.
  • Solution Support: Serve as a liaison on significant projects. As needed, take part in system performance testing. Ensure that changes are appropriately recorded by adhering to change management procedures. Make use of your technical knowledge to make sure that the changes work with the right environment and parts.
  • Teamwork: Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root causes and provide technical support when needed. Encourage others to act and deal with delicate situations diplomatically. Work with company leaders to collaborate. Assist with Wi-Fi and Ubiquiti products.
  • Communications: Prepare and present proposals, reports, and other writings for both internal and external audiences. Assimilates and interprets other points of view into work processes. Imparts formal technical or administrative expertise to others. Takes an active part in regular status meetings. Prepare written responses to customer inquiries and status reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Experience You Will Bring

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 3-5 years of related functional experience in network administration, with a focus on UniFi/Ubiquiti systems required.
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and wireless networking in high-density environments.
    • Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting network devices
    • Hands on experience with Ubiquiti UniFi platform (UniFi Network Controller) is highly required and other platforms preferred (Network, Access, Protect, Connect, Talk, etc.).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication and documentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex technology issues
    • Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets.
    • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results.
    • Experience with Building servers (Windows and Linux) and server maintenance
    • Working knowledge of Python and Ansible
    • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call during events.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment such as network hardware, cabling, and tools.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, or in confined spaces to install or troubleshoot network devices in ceilings, walls, or under seating areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods during event setup or troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to visually inspect small components and wiring.
  • Capable of working in noisy, crowded, or low-light environments during live events.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to technical issues across large venue spaces, sometimes requiring rapid movement or extended walking.

 

Nice to Have:

 

  • Familiarity with the sport of basketball.
