The Opportunity

FedExForum and Memphis Grizzlies Public Safety Officers are responsible for superior frontline customer service and safety to all FedExForum guests and employees.  This role includes greeting and assisting guests, assisting with the safety and security of all persons and property in and on the premises of FedExForum, and filling special requests, as well as proactive problem-solving during events.

In This Role You Will

  • Ensure all guests are greeted upon arrival, maintaining high first-impression standards;
  • Maintain designated areas of responsibility during events, ensuring guest experience and facility safety;
  • Adhere to Memphis Grizzlies/FedExForum and Memphis Police Department dress and grooming standards for each event worked;
  • Learn the layout of FedExForum and assist guests by directing them to the appropriate locations;
  • Promote strong guest relations and ensure all guests receive a consistently high standard of service;
  • Monitor seating areas by assisting guests with seat locations, addressing seat hoppers, and resolving concerns in a friendly and timely manner;
  • Respond to inquiries, suggestions, and concerns from supervisors and guests;
  • Notify and follow up with the Arena Security Director/Manager or Public Safety on any reported issues or concerns;
  • Report to the Guest Relations Supervisor at the end of each shift, ensuring all issues are resolved or properly escalated;
  • Collaborate with Public Safety, Event Security, and Team Security to ensure the safety of guests, facilities, and employees;
  • Support Guest Relations and Event Security in enforcing facility standards and policies;
  • Assist with adherence to facility alcohol management guidelines;
  • Assist with guest ejections, as approved by the Executive-in-Charge;
  • Understand and assist with the implementation of emergency procedures and the facility disaster plan;
  • Assist with managing prohibited activities (e.g., scalping, bootlegging, panhandling) as directed;
  • Make arrests in accordance with federal, state, county, and local statutes in consultation with the Executive-in-Charge;
  • Support compliance with individuals listed on the FedExForum Authorization of Agency list;
  • Notify the Arena Security Director/Manager or Public Safety of any change in status with the Memphis Police Department, including suspensions or injuries;
  • Maintain a positive, professional presence at all times, including consistently displaying a welcoming demeanor;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Must be a certified Peace Officer in the State of Tennessee;
  • Must be currently employed by the City of Memphis Police Department, in good standing, and not under suspension;
  • Must be eligible to work secondary employment as a City of Memphis Police Officer;
  • Must be available to work shifts as early as 8:00 AM and as late as 1:00 AM;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Peace Officer, preferably with the City of Memphis Police Department;
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross or an equivalent organization;
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-stress or emergency situations under the direction of FedExForum management;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment;
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, guests, clients, and VIPs at all levels;
  • Must be dependable, mature, and professional, with a positive and self-motivated approach.

Physical/Cognitive Requirements

 

With or without reasonable accommodations:

    •  Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, walking, and standing.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
    • Ability to travel throughout the facility, as required.
    • Must possess visual activity, i.e.: close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including but not limited to heights, elevators, darkened arena, around crowds, loud noise, and flashing lights.
    • Continuous stretching, standing and walking, including up and downstairs.
